It loads both, passes control to the kernel, and Linux takes over your Mac.

I got this link from an excellent page on the general topic at http: Even removing and reinstalling from the repositories gives you the same version. Find the Linux CD you want to boot. I did a searchand all the Linux forums are dead. Depending on your specific hardware and your degree of Linux savvy, you can start adding kernel arguments stuff that is passed to the kernel as it is booted and play with video driver settings too.

Oh well… So, how did I finally gain access to the mystery drive? Simply click the Linux button and BootX minfppc invoke the kernel you selected and you are off to Linux-land! Copyright C - Atea Ataroa Limited. Linux Mint versions do not use GDM as the display manager.

Make sure the kernel and ramdisk image you get mintppf for the PowerPC architecture! Start it up, and you get the below GUI. I unpacked the Mac OS 9 ext2 driver MountXinstalled the extension into the system folder and restarted the machine with high hopes.
